progress...

I'm trying to paint Jesus and I'm using Desmond from Lost as reference and I can't seem to make it less "Desmondy" lol any tips on how to make it look more like Jesus?

This is my sifi piece at the tight sketch phase. It's on the movie, Gattaca. Really good movie, starring Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. For those of you who havent seen it, it is set in the future where humans are classified as Valid or Invalid dependent on their medical analysis when they are born. When a baby is born it is analysed and the doctors are able to determine the exact date and time it will die along with all other medical issues the human may have throughout it's life. Dependent on whether you are an Invalid or Valid determines what kind of job and in turn, life, you will have. i.e astronauts are usually in perfect predictablitly they will have a healthy life in contrast to someone who is predicted to have heart problems will live his life as a janitor. This movie is about how an Invalid tries to become a Valid. Very kool movie, check it out.

All that being said, crits are much appreciated!!!

maybe if you relax his eyes and smile a lil bit, make him look more kind with a soft face... hope that helps!

im not sure if you're going for historical accuracy or just recognition that it is Jesus, and i'm sure you've thought of this, but if you want people to recognize the portrait as Jesus right away i think some bluer eyes and lighter hair wouldn't hurt. Is this more of a glorifying portrait or would it be him in an everyday scenario?

I agree with Erin. I believe the eyes need to be softer and have a more serene look rather than a wrinkled brow. The mouth, the beard, and the hair seem very Jesus-ish.

i'd make him tanner or a different skin tone since he wasn't exactly a caucasian.....

plus, i kinda just like him as desmond, seeing as how he's one of my favorite LOST characters.
